Biographie
Louis-Michel Tougas est un compositeur, producteur et percussionniste vivant à Montréal. Sa musique a été jouée au Canada, en Europe et aux États-Unis par des ensembles tels que Talea, le quatuor Bozzini, le Stuttgarter Kammerorchester et l'ensemble Ascolta. En 2025, il fonde la maison de disques Mnémosyne, consacrée à la promotion de nouvelles œuvres en musique contemporaine. Il complète présentement une thèse doctorale en composition à l'université McGill, où sa recherche porte sur la perception et la cognition de la polyrythmie. Il y enseigne également l'écriture XXe siècle et la composition assistée par ordinateur. Tougas a étudié la composition et l'analyse musicale au Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, à la Hochschule für Musik de Stuttgart et à l'université McGill.

Biography
Louis-Michel Tougas is a composer, percussionist, and producer living in Montreal. His music has been performed in Canada, Europe and the United States by ensembles such as Talea, the Bozzini String Quartet, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester and ensemble Ascolta. In 2025, he founded the music label Mnémosyne, dedicated to promoting new contemporary music works. He is currently completing his doctoral thesis in composition at McGill University, where his research concerns the perception and cognition of polyrhythm. He also teaches 20th century compositional techniques and computer-assisted composition at McGill University. Tougas studied composition and music analysis at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, the Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart and McGill University.
